Le Jardin de Botanique de Montreal '83. Medium green, slightly arched leaves up to 26" long with scapes standing 5-7 feet tall with dark lilac flowers. A hummingbird magnet in August. Handles sun well. If you are a lily grower, try with Lilium superbum and Lilium henryi as they will bloom the same time. The lilies and Tall Boy are all lofty and make a stunning backdrop for a garden that needs quick focus.

Nyikos 1998. Small, ponted green leaves with obvious veining. Forms dense mound. Light lavender flowers. A good ground cover or border plant. A cross between Birchwood Parky's Gold and Golden Tiara. A good grower. $9.50

S. Yoshie/Ruh. Collected near the Japanese river Tenryu. Powdery blue 18" long leaves and 6 foot scapes with lavender blooms in August here. Like Tall Boy, Tenryu scapes afford background attention for a back of border planting.

Hawkridge Farm. Not Registered. Heavily corrugated blue-green leaves with good substance. They have a wide blue margin with a narrow center of creamy yellow in spring that changes to white by summer. An Elegans sport but better grower. Leave room when planting.
