Located among Vermont's
spectacular Green Mountains, three miles above c. 1784 Marshfield
Village,
lies one of New England's nicest specialty nurseries---a treasure to
find
and enjoy! Since 1992, Vermont Flower Farm has reached new gardening
dimensions by joining astilbes, daylilies, hosta and lilies. Shade
loving, Vermont-hardy companion plants including heucheras, tiarellas,
ferns, cimicifugas, epimediums, and ligularias complement our
favorites.
Varying
display gardens contain native granite and green schist stone work,
water
and bog garden features, garden sculpture, granite and wooden benches,
bird baths, bird houses and hand sculpted stone water basins. A large
shade garden continues to develop within the walls of a Century-old
barn
foundation. Three walls of the foundation stand strong to
capture
the growing plantings of wildflowers and shade lovers; the front
wall, once open to allow easy access for machinery, sheep, horses and
cows beckons visiting gardeners and an occasional deer.
The foundation display
garden includes over 250 varieties of hostas accentuated by native ferns, trillium,
red and white baneberries, hellebores, arisaemas, false Solomon's Seal, primroses
and gingers. A new garden "room", planted within the foundation and
in what we think may have been the barn's "milk room", contains examples
of our growing collection of astilbes. Although still under construction, our
woodland trails, wildflower gardens, and a daylily walk provide many horticultural
opportunities.

Peacham Pond, Groton State Forest, four state campgrounds,
magnificent Owls Head for hiking, viewing and bird watching,
and an
abundance of glacial kettle ponds for quiet outdoor recreation. We're
very
proud of the flowers we grow and the peace this area lends to our
gardens.
